Here's progress on the house:
Everyone in town was betting that my idea to build the chimneys on the ground would crash and burn
But my idea carried.
Only a civil engineer would build a house like this!
The 35 ton crane hooks on with these straps.
Each chimney weighed 6000 lbs.
The mason sitting on the ridge with me directs the second chimney onto its base in the attic.
Both chimneys set plumb. We then inserted rebar dowel anchors and sealed them with concrete.
Instead of working 40 feet in the air, and carrying each brick up individually, this was safer !
Dan, Leon and I enjoyed a celebratory lunch after our success.
